Soccer Connections

Soccer Connections brings together players through nationality, clubs and international honours. A country group can span several domestic leagues, while a club group can cross generations. A club group means any club he played for, so a well-travelled name can look right for more than one; only one group on the board is his.

International honours are one of its regular categories: four players from the same victorious generation, put together by what they won with their country rather than by anything that happened at a club. It cuts clean across the club groups beside it, which is what makes it useful — a set of four who spent their careers in four different leagues is usually an international group.

No. The rotation is built from the whole record it can verify, so clubs from several countries appear, and a nationality group frequently reaches outside Europe entirely.

Because the sport has no draft. That single structural difference is why this board reads unlike the American rotations: players arrive through academies and transfers, so the board asks who someone played for and represented rather than where they were selected.
