What is the NHL career simulator?
A hockey life from major junior to the rafters, played out in the browser. The opening pool stays inside the QMJHL, OHL and WHL before the draft and a continuous run through the league.
How long does an NHL career actually last?
Just under six seasons in our archive, which makes hockey the longest-lasting career of any league we measure — and it still hides how many end after a handful of games. The record here opens in 1917 and keeps the careers that left a mark, so a run that reaches the Cup window has already gone further than most. See how every sport compares.
Forward, defenseman or goaltender?
The position changes every stat on the board. Forwards and defensemen post goals, assists and points, while goaltenders post wins, save percentage and shutouts. The skater record book includes 92 goals, 163 assists and 215 points; the crease bench is 48 wins, a .944 qualified save percentage and 22 shutouts.
What is the Cup window?
The chapter around 30, and it is the one that defines most careers. Your club is either built to win then or it is not, and the offers that arrive beforehand decide which. Chase the Cup and you may take less money; take the money and you may watch it from somewhere else.
Does the draft position matter?
Yes. Your development line helps set a real seven-round slot and the city around your first league season. The receipt changes the path and competitive environment; the engine does not hide extra bench seasons behind a late pick.
How do the chapters run?
Development covers ages 16–17 and the Draft season is 18. The league chapters then run 19–21, 22–24, 25–27, 28–30 and 31–35 before the farewell at 36 and the front-office decision after playing.
Can I actually score 92 in a season?
It is on the board, and it almost never happens. The record row carries the real single-season marks and counts only seasons that genuinely beat one, which is why most finished careers read zero across the top.
Is a hockey career game the same as this?
Same thing. Career game, career simulator, career mode — different words for one browser game where the record book does the scoring and every checkpoint is a choice you make.
What comes after the playing days?
You choose a last run or a clean exit, then a front-office decision closes it out. Accepting can add a leadership receipt, but never extra playing seasons, Cups or salary.
Can someone else play my career?
They get their own. The challenge opens a fresh hockey life for them with your finished card attached, so the only way to beat you is to go do it.
Do I need to sign up?
