Hockey franchises rebuild in waves, and the gap between two of them can be enormous — a dynasty and a decade of missing the playoffs often share a city and a sweater. The reel stops on one specific window, so what you get is a squad rather than a name.

How does the NHL team randomizer work?

One tap runs the reel across real franchise eras and stops on one, showing its city, its years and the depth of roster behind it. Open the list and you are drafting from that squad.

Which eras are in the pool?

From the Original Six years through expansion to the current league. Every era is a real window a franchise had, identified by its city and years.

Do I have to draft a goaltender?

You do, and it is the seat that decides most runs. A goalie is judged on wins, save percentage and shutouts rather than goals, so the position cannot be filled with a forward you happen to like.

How many times can I spin?
