What conditions show up on the cricket grid?
Sides of every kind — national teams, county sides and franchises, each named by its country, county or city — crossed with the totals each format keeps: Test runs, wickets and appearances, one-day and Twenty20 milestones — plus Wisden and ICC honours and the Hall of Fame.
Are Test and one-day totals kept apart?
Always. A Test wicket and an ODI wicket are different facts, so Test, one-day and Twenty20 milestones are separate conditions with their own thresholds.
Do domestic sides count?
Yes. An appearance for a county or a franchise counts exactly as one for a national team: the square asks where a player played, not at what level.
Which cricketers can you use on the grid?
Everyone in the recorded pool, across Test, one-day and Twenty20 cricket and across the domestic competitions that feed them. Sides carry this board — national teams, counties and franchises alike — so a cricketer with one county season is as useful to you as a career international.
What is the difference between a country square and a team square?
A country square asks where a player is from; a team square asks who they turned out for. They usually agree for a Test cricketer and often do not for a franchise or county player, which is exactly what makes the crossing worth asking.
Does the length of a career come into it?
It does, in seasons rather than in matches: eighteen, fifteen, ten or five. Cricket careers stretch further than most, so the long thresholds are less exclusive here than they would be in a contact sport. The era played in and the ICC Hall of Fame are the other career-wide conditions, and the format totals stay apart from all three.
