Clubs and honours. Baseball careers are long and well travelled, so the teams a player appeared for do most of the work, and beside them sit the voted awards by their proper names and the career milestones the record book counts.
The voted ones, named: Most Valuable Player, Rookie of the Year, the Cy Young, the Gold Glove and the Silver Slugger among them. Every member of such a square won the same thing, so it is checkable to the season rather than argued about.
Round career totals the sport itself treats as thresholds — three thousand hits, five hundred home runs, three hundred wins, three thousand strikeouts. A milestone square is arithmetic from the record, not a reputation.
